Gillespie, Michael

(1961 -)

Hall of Fame Induction: 2016

Mike Gillespie made many contributions to the game almost from the time he first started playing in 1975. By 1979 he was the Junior Boy's 18 and under champion and repeated the achievement the following year. He went to win the Mixed Nationals (1989) and six Senior Nationals (including five straight Men's 50+); along the way he was a multiple finalist in the Men's Open (4), Men's Singles (4) and Mixed Open (2).

In 2000 Mike participated in a groundbreaking event, the first PPTA certification process, and has participated every year since, certifying and mentoring over 100 high profile professional players.

However, his greatest contribution to the game is his commitment to the growth of the Junior platform tennis program, both locally and nationally, with his students having won 14 National titles.
